Poster concept 2.0

Here is the first concept I had for poster rehash. Of course it needs more text and such, but most likely the image itself is what I'm going to be using for it (Using the color palette I couldn't come up with a good looking image using that range of colors, while having a somewhat realistic approach)I don't have the requested text on my PC so what I'm using is a Helvetica 39 thin font, but I can adjust everything as needed on either Sunday or Monday prior / during class. I also have another concept if this one doesn't get a group approval, it would be a circular based image titled "How a wetland works" with text laid out according to step descriptions, similar to the ordered approach from Katie's pyramid concept. Please let me know what you think asap.

  1. Hey Trevor,

A few ideas for you regarding the poster. I think this layout is going to be easier for the demographic, but a few things to consider. Your picture takes up over half of the poster. On a 2ft by 3ft poster, that's quite a bit of space for something that seemingly has no information-based purpose, such as the pyramid diagram. That being said, I think it' a nice photo and has good potential within the poster, but I wonder if we would be more successful using your poster as the center piece that is split up and organized differently than the other two. Perhaps using two - three different live traced images in alternating positions on a grid. As far as the information is concerned, I feel that the limited information you have provided is not catered to our larger goal, which is providing action words and melodrama to describe the duties associated with protecting the wetlands. Remember our age demographic and what would motivate them.

  2. Like Ryan said I would change the way your info is worded (I too had to cut a lot of stuff out of the poster but remember more info can go on the website) instead of saying "what are the wetlands?" you could maybe state facts instead. EX: Wet Lands Are... *any land effected by water. Is that the only info you were gonna put on the poster or is that just part of it? Maybe you could have "Wetlands Are.." "Today.. "(the problems occurring today) and "You can help by...". Just remember this is for kids, not their parents (I have to keep telling myself its for kids over and over!)
